2 months

Our little man has gone through some changes this past month. He's officially in size 2 diapers and fits comfortably in size 6 month clothes. We went to his 2 month check up and Peyton weighed 13 lbs 10 oz (above the 95%) and was 23.5 inches (70%). He got 3 shots and was a trooper...It only made him cry for a little bit. He quickly fell asleep and we had to wake him up for feedings. New during this month:
-he became more aware and started looking around at things (around 5 weeks)
-he also started smiling and cooing (around 7 weeks)

Here he is smiling with Daddy. (so sweet!)

And another while we were packing for our tour de Texas: Austin for Josh's STEP exam, Garland to visit Josh's family, and Port Neches to visit my family/ Brytni's wedding shower.

I also wanted to share his monthly "P" photo. I borrowed this idea from another blog. He's changed so much!

Here is 1 month

Major props to Josh for taking these...he's getting so talented with his camera! Sorry for the lack of posts, things have been busy. My goal for this month is to at least update my blog weekly. Fingers crossed that this will happen! :)

5 years together

Our first date at the Texas Hall of Fame, February 2006

5 years ago I was blessed to meet the love of my life when I was a Freshman in college at Texas A&M. I'm sure you've all heard this, but we met in the laundry room one night at the Traditions Dorm. (where he ended up proposing)

Now onto March 9, 2006. I remember it all so well. I had been seeing this awesome guy for about a month. It was time to leave for Spring Break and we were headed home to our opposite ends of Texas. That night I was headed to the Houston Rodeo to see Maroon 5 with some girlfriends. I had just gotten out of the shower and was finishing up packing. There was a knock on my door and it happened to be Josh. He looked so serious.

"I just don't want to leave you this long without making things official," he said. After asking him what he meant he asked me to be his girlfriend. We've been together ever since. I remember calling my Mom to tell her...I was sooo giddy and had butterflies in my stomach. How did I get so lucky? OK, that's all for now and the rest is history...thanks for reading my lovey dovey post of the year ;)

"Snow day" 2-4-11

We had crazy weather last week. On Wednesday there were rolling blackouts all over Texas that caused our school to close. Thursday was normal, but the news said on Friday an "Arctic Blast" would roll in. School was cancelled again and this is what we woke up to...poor cat was couped up all week. (cold weather = doggy door stays closed)

He seemed pretty interested, so I let him out. What's this white stuff?

It wasn't anywhere near the weather we drove home from the Cotton Bowl in. (on 1-9-11)The following pictures were taken southbound on I35 from south Dallas all the way to HIllsboro, which is on your way to Waco.

"Oh cool, it's snowing!"

"Wow, it's really picked up"

"Please just let us get home!" (luckily there was no ice)

"YAY, we survived" (after this we stopped in West, TX at Czech Stop to get gas...love that place!)

The crib is up!

On January 22 my parents came in town for a 3D/4D ultrasound and to deliver Peyton's crib!

26.5 week shot under the sign that we got in Savannah, GA

Here he is!

We can't really decide who he looks like. Plus since he was only 26.5 weeks, he still has some chubbing up to do. Later that weekend my Mom text me this picture of me the day I was born. Maybe he has my nose?

After the ultrasound we put up the crib. It wasn't too bad, there were just a few phases to getting the job done.

Brody, of course, was a huge help

My Mom...we're debating between calling her Lulu or Lolly

Proud papa

My Dad...he wants Peyton to call him Pop

A visit from Grandpa

On January 26 & 27 we had the privilege of going to dinner with my Grandpa, who was in town for a Texas Municipal League quarterly meeting. They really know how to eat and have a good time! We felt so welcomed and really enjoyed ourselves.

27 week shot in Peyton's room

While getting lost, I mean driving to the restaurant I snapped this shot of a building downtown.

The first dinner was at the Iron Cactus next to the Mokara Hotel. The food was delicious and they had a dessert sampler bar...yum!

The next day we had dinner at the Little Rhein Steakhouse, a cozy little restaurant that has been around since the 60's. Here's Grandpa enjoying a margarita.

Grandpa is so excited about the baby that he told everyone his great-grandson would be there. I was asked several times where he was and would just point to my stomach ;) He's not done cooking!

thanks Grandpa for treating us! We hardly ever go downtown for dinner and really enjoyed having a nice meal.

Blog Makeover!

Just wanted to brag a little on my hubby. The other day I was showing him some of my favorite blogs and how I love their headers. I was going to see if my sister could make me one, if not I would just pay an online company to make it. I get a text yesterday to check out my blog and was so surprised to see this! He is so sweet to me...thanks Josh!!

P.s. The background picture is us at our wedding. (if you look at the top left corner you can see us)

Cotton Bowl 2011

On Friday, January 7 we headed up to Arlington from San Antonio. I worked half a day and picked up Josh after his cardio exam. The drive went quick because we were super excited for the game. All the way up I-35 we saw Aggies on their way to the game. We were both in shock when we drove up to the stadium. It's very futuristic and huge! It's funny because next door is the traditional looking Rangers' Stadium.

We had to walk quite a ways from our parking spot and had a little trouble finding the entrance. Good thing we got there early! Finally inside the stadium.

Look at this spiffy panoramic that Josh took!

Watching our favorite player stop those tigers!

For the half time show, both bands played then the Kilgore Rangerettes performed with some high school girls. Gotta love fireworks!

Even though we didn't win, we still had a good time and support our Ags! (side note: check with us before you get seats at Cowboys stadium. Ours had an overhang and the people 2 rows in front of us wouldn't sit down. The entire game...we get the 12th man, but c'mon! We had a little space between their shoulders that we could tilt our heads and see half the screen. Sad day.)

Whew!

I'm tired from that 11 day blog post streak! Today Josh is taking his make up Cardio Exam that he missed when we went to Lil Mamma's funeral. (HUGE exam for him) Then we're heading to Dallas to see those Aggies BTHO LSU!! GO #47!! I should hopefully have a post with pictures on Monday. Get excited!

I leave you with this, for all you iPod/iPad users. Angry birds is fun for the whole family! (this is my Mom's cat, Star)

More sights of Savannah

We had such a great day trip that my Mom, Sister, and I decided to go back for more. We dropped the boys off at golf and hit the road. There was traffic on the interstate, boo! But our GPS helped us find a back road way.

First we had lunch at a cozy little place called the Starland Cafe

They serve yummy organic food and had lots of artsy details.

Then we got carried away in a yarn store.

Close by was this pub where a scene in the movie Something to Talk About with Julia Roberts was filmed.

We got to take a tour of the Mercer House. It's filled with antiques and very famous paintings. But, no photography allowed...sad day. Afterward we went and had tea at a place called Gryphon, which used to be an apothecary shop in the 1800's. All of the stained glass was made by Tiffany & Co.

After that we headed back to HH to have dinner with Josh and Dad. I really hope to come back here one day!

Hilton Head, SC

We had a great trip to South Carolina with my family. It was very restful, with no jam-packed schedule. The day we arrived it was lightly snowing! But luckily it warmed up through the week and Josh and my Dad got to play 3 rounds of golf while we were there.

Josh in the Charlotte, NC airport by the Poinsettia tree

We did a lot of this (reading, iPad-ing, blogging...)

the view outside our condo

The sunrises and sunsets were so beautiful

We walked the beach a couple of times

And found sand dollars on the beach (we kept 20 or so)

Close by our condo was the Harbour Town Lighthouse...so cute!

When planning this trip, my Dad's only request was to "be with his family and drink coffee in the morning." We got to do exactly what we hoped for, relax and spend time with each other.
